How it works
We empower institutions to recognize and value students' accumulated knowledge by assessing their prior learning.

Prior Learning Assessment (PLA), allows individuals to earn college credit for knowledge gained outside traditional classrooms.
By evaluating skills from work experience, military service, volunteer activities, and self-study, PLA helps students fast-track their education, saving both time and money.

Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about how the product works
We have a CLR (or LER or student wallet), how does that work with the platform?
We are committed to interoperability and are members of the 1EdTech community to ensure that our systems are optimized for the best user experience. Let’s discuss what you have and how we can seamlessly ingest that data without creating additional work for anyone in the ecosystem!
What are my compatibility and integration options?
We are committed to interoperability and are members of the 1EdTech community to ensure that our systems are optimized across the higher education ecosystem. To discuss which systems you are interested in integrating with, please contact us.
How do students access this tool?
It depends on how the institution wants to invite individuals (email, website, portal) and at what point in the student journey, including at inquiry, application, admissions, enrolled or stopped out. Of course, there is always the option to have them all available! To discuss how it can work for you, please contact us.
Will we have advisers inundated with walking students through this?
The platform was designed to be fully authentic to the experience that institutions want to have with their students. Best practices include an explainer video, basic metrics for students to understand the value of their investment of time, and guidance on how the reviewers consider the individual’s input. By using these best practices, students have agency to complete the process without needing to work with an individual or sign up for a class.
We update our course catalogue regularly. How often do we need to update the platform and how difficult is it to interface it “real time”?
EAS was designed to accommodate changes to the curriculum both on cycle and off-cycle. Changes can be uploaded by individual courses or by the full catalog.
Can we collect the major or degree sought?
Yes! EAS can collect whatever information is helpful to the institution reviewer.
Will the platform increase faculty workloads?
The EAS platform was designed to reduce the workload on faculty by providing them recommendations of specific courses that they can approve or deny. Faculty have reported that they have spent less time because they are not tracking information in emails and multiple systems. Plus they are looking at a discreet course and option.
How have the faculty responded to using EAS?
In short, they have been surprised by how easy the interface is to use, the accuracy of the recommendations and the ability to say yes, no, or provide an alternative course. EAS was designed to reduce the workload on faculty by providing them recommendations of specific courses that they can approve or deny. Faculty have reported that they have spent less time because they are not tracking information in emails and multiple systems, plus they know what they are looking for.
How have the Advisors responded to using the platform?
Advisors have been relieved. No longer are they chasing students or faculty. Rather, they have full insight into where a review is in process and can see what reminders have been generated. They are able to provide JIT feedback and updates to students.
How quick does EAS respond to requests for modifications if needed?
EAS has a 24 hour SLA to review and provide feedback to institutions on the level of modifications being requested.
What if we don't evaluate one of the modules? Can we customize the platform?
The platform was designed to be fully authentic to the experience that institutions want to have with their students and faculty while being in alignment with their policy and processes. The modular design gives institutions broad flexibility in making the system work in their context.
